Greetings comrades, I have been debating for years whether t try the whole re-enacting thing and have finally decided to just do it. I was inspired by the tremendous dedication of the guys from the 271st VC Regiment at putting together an impression I never thought i would see - regular American guys re-creating Victor Charlie. The closest I have been to the Nam is the border area with Guangxi Province in Southern China (that is me there in the photo). I do have a great deal of experience with the American Army of that period as I served in the 3rd Armored Division from 71-74 in the recon platoon for a tank battalion. So, I am looking for another AK and beginning to seriously study the soldiers who fought the US so tenaciously for so many years. See you in the boonies and I would love to hear from any other short timers from Michigan. Attachments:

Welcome to the Nam! My advice: start with a NVA type impression to get your feet wet and decide if reenacting is something you want to continue. For $100 you can get a dead-on accurate repro pants, shirt, and hat from Moore Militaria, and a pair of PAVN boots for $45 and PAVN ruck for $45 from Sampan Imports and have a fairly complete impression (less webgear). If you go to a tactical, you'll be guaranteed a lot of action, as GIs usually outnumber OPFOR, so the GI forces are divided up into smaller groups with only one or two in action while OPFOR is constantly "in the fight". Here are some pics from a recent tactical. We saw a lot of trigger time! If you get the NVA uniform from Moore Militaria, order one size up from your regular size. The uniforms are cut for a Vietnamese shape.
