Hello again to all, I'm trying my damnedest to put together a top notch LRRP kit. I have almost everything I need, I just need a few pointers on what was SOP as far as the layout of your field gear, and what was the most commonly used uniform. I know LRRP's didn't have the same restrictions as a line unit, I have a set of 'Nam dated ERDL's, OD's, and a repop set of Tiger Stripes (cotton, not ripstop). Thanks again!

There was no set SOP for LRRP gear set up
webbing could consist of any combination of pouches, water canteens....... It was upto each soldier to field what he needed.
My webbing (for my own ease) consists of the following
On the belt there are 2x 56 ammo pouches at the front on the right and pouch (as wearing the webbing) is a firstaid dressing pouch, with a compass inside on the left hand pouch again there s a first aid pouch with 2x bandages inside rear of the webbing belt consisits of 4x water canteens that gives me 4 Qts of water on the H-harness the following 1x strobe light in pouch 1x pilots knife 1x tube of matches 1x karabiner 1x M18 smoke grenade cardboard transport tube 1x M34 Willie pete grenade 1x first aid pouch with bandages 2x lemon grenades 2x baseball grenades 1x mini CS grenade
Each ammo pouch carrys 4 mags and underneath the mags are (large) bandages
As per uniform....... what ever goes , but depends upon the unit you wish to portray.... and the time period
most units used tiger stripes upto about 69 when they went to ERDL but that does not mean 100% that that unit did not wear tigers after 69... or you could mix & match tiger jacket with ERDL trousers
It all comes down to research..... research the unit you wish to portray..........
Hope this helps
