what we expect as an absolute minimum is :-
jungle jacket jungle trousers jungle boots
Obviously that will do you to come on our display. If you want to do more then obviously you'll need:- M1 helmet 56/67 patt webbing we prefer 56 patt spare jungle jacket & trousers pup tent sleeping bag (modern is o.k as it will stay in ya tent)
The two most expensive item's you'll be asked to get abit further down the line are:- M16 be it airsoft, blank or deact Lightweight Ruck we ask for the lightweight as we're trying to create some sort of standard kit hence the request for 56 patt webbing.

Chris, I'd go with 3rd patt ripstop (B). Easy to get hold of. Could go for 3rd patt poplin (A). 3rd patt usually easier to buy. Also more often seen as the US involvement grew. 1st and 2nd had their problems that's why 3rd patt was developed so quickly.
Boonie or issue baseball cap
M1 helmet either footslogger or airborne.
M56 webbing, including Butt pack, also get yourself two water bottles with covers.
Boots jungle Pananma sole are ok. Make sure they have a seam in the back of the heel. Modern ones are the same with no seam.
Green T shirt, try not to get modern Brit ones. Don't look right.
Have a look at the Rolling Thunder site pictures, it's a real good starting place.
Also Chris, ask someones advice before you buy, prob don't have to mention that. I made a lot (and I mean a lot) of mistakes in the past, it was cheaper then. Hope this helps.

To add when anyone join's us you will be expected to get your grunt gear together first then if you want to do MP, LRRP etc....... you will do that 2nd. As in the real u.s army everyone would be in infantryman first & there chosen career 2nd. This helps our group in that if we go to a show & the lrrp's outnumber the grunts that would look silly. What we do is if we go to a show & have a sufficent number of grunts then the lrrp's will be asked to get their gear on. Also the other reason is if you can't get your grunt gear right then you can pretty much gaurentee you won't get your specialised gear right. Also seeing as I speak to alot of vets now I feel personally responsible if they pick up on something that ain't right.
