IMHO for what you pay for an airsoft M16 or M4 you might as well put a little more to it and get a Blank Firer or Deactivated M16.

Unless you've a lot of money then I'd go with a blank firer or airsoft.
With a bit of modding an airsoft can have real furniture added and look real good at less than half the price of a deac.
Go for the ones (M16A1)with 20 round mags. 30 round mags did make an appearance but not til real late so aren't that commom with grunts.
Deac M16 go for a lot of money, because that are a viable modern weapon and not a lot of them are avaiable to deac. Most would want to buy a live one if they could.

First ones an AP74 in .22 calibre and as a firearms cert is req'd I'd say it was a live firer. As is the second an AP74 live firer that needs a FAC. These look nothing like an M16. I'd stay well clear and look at getting a good airsoft unless you wanna make bangs at a private event when I'd go for a blankfirer.

Why the hell would you deactivate a blankfirer??? I have only seen 2 deact M16 / M16A1s in my 5/6 years and they were £4/5 K each. The deact thing is madness; I am after a 12ga pump for the MP duty, and it is looking cheaper to apply for a shotgun license and buy a real one than a deact! Taking it to shows would be hairy, but deacts are 2 or 3 times the price! On a sad note, we did pass up an old spec deact M60 for £850. When the guy said 'Eight and a half', we assumed he meant grand!!!

Yep, that'll do, had one for many years. Bugger to get hold of the mags though.
There good for battling and making a noise, but for display nowadays personally I'd choose an airsoft. They can be altered more easily to look real good.
I'm toying with buying an airsoft M14 for the Marines.
