have had a mail from my mate doug state side have asked him about kit and boots and the like ...here it is ,,,and pics
Hi Andy, green jungle boots are no problem in any size. I can get new one and used ones. Used ones are cheaper of course. There are two factories that still make them and both are here in North Carolina. The problem is that for me to order new ones straight from the factory will cost me around $48 a pair. I never order any, instead I pick them up from friends who have surplus stores, either buy or trade for them. I can get you new ones for around $35. They are made with three types of soles. V-track, ripple, and Panama soles. The ones used during the Vietnam war had Panama soles. V-Track is what everyone wants these days, but ripple soles are the most comfortable type for anyone doing a hell of a lot of walking. The only thing is ripple soles are the absolute worst for tracking mud.The easiest ones for me to get is the Panama sole ones. Sometimes I can get new ones for less than $35 also. I even have a friend who is holding me around 10 pair of panama soles ones that are dated in the 1960s. They are all new also. But they are small sizes and most are narrow widths. When it comes to used ones but in very good condition, I can usually get these for $15-$20. A lot of the ones I am seeing recently have the spike protection in them like the ones from the 1960s. I think I even have a few paird of nice used ones here now. Very hot here today, when It cools off some I will go outside and unload my boot box to see exactly what I have on hand now. Green jungle boots in size 11 and 12 are the easiest ones to find of the larger sizes.
As far as ACU uniforms, I only have one or two new sets and I think they are all small sizes. Later in the week or during the weekend I will be picking up large sets of ACUs. I can get new tiger stripped uniforms that are the exact color as the 1960s ones. I have to order them and the cheapest ones will run around $50-60 a set, unless I run into someone who is going out of business.
I was up all night sorting out the basement and two storage sheds. I found several used slant pocket OD green jungle shirts all dated during Vietnam war if you need any. The ones I have right now would be cheap also. I didn't have to give much for them. After while I will take some pictures of the Vietnam stuff I came accross and send you. I even have military issue boonie hats right now. Woodland camo, OD Green, ACU digital, 3 color desert, blue tiger stripe, and black. found some old equipment last night also.
I have the black metal jump wings now. I have two types, basic parachutist and senior parachutist wings, Also have black metal air assault wings, CIBs, combat action badges, captains bars, and black berets. I don't have any flashes or ranger crests for the berets right now though. I do have the new tan berets that the rangers currently use and also the SF green berets. I am working on ranger flashes and crests now though. Along with ranger challenge coins. How many black berets new or used could you use. Even though I sell new and used ones on ebay I can give you a much better deal if you can use or move a lot of them.
I was just checking my mail to see what all has sold this afternoon and I have a little time so I will take some pictures right now and send you. Doug
Here are pictures of two types of vietnam shirts that I have on hand right now. The standard military shirt and the slant pocket shirt. I have several standard shirts and all are dated 67-69. The slant pocket shirt in the picture, is a medium long dated 1969. I think I have more of these also.
