Indirectly the Marines were responsible for some of the changes to the M16, story goes, when they were issued M16s there were few cleaning kist and it was assumed that the new technology didn't need cleaning...hence the initial stoppage issues. The use of a chromed barrel and chamber and new smokeless ammo went a long way towards improving the weapon... It was demonstrated to the US Govt with the new ammo, however, the US, to save money, used the cheaper type... |

My wife has some vietnam nurses kit, but very seldom wears it. I don't think I've even got a photo.

Thanks, I got the MAS about a month ago. A nice little rifle to show the public that the VC used other firearms than the AK-47. Eventually I'm working on putting together some NVA items as well to show there was a professional army roaming around as well.

Hello tomlegg, Like the early war impession ,I would not mind doing that myself but cannot get hold of a shirt to fit me  i think I said I would do a paratrooper or early marine.Hopefully going to woodlands meting maybe see you there. |
